A Must Have (Hidden) Wedding Hair Accessory

I'm sure you've all seen the mini infomercials on these by now (unless you live under a rock, or don't watch TV):

Bumpits! I know, I know, the commercials are super cheesy, but these things really work pretty well!

And they're definitely better than the alternative of "ratting" your hair to give it extra volume. Mr. Cola bought me some for my birthday last April, and they've been great. I will for sure be using one with my half up/half down wedding hairstyle.

Here are a couple photos I took from an at home quickie trial. Of course, for my wedding 'do I'll have my hair all curly, not just the tips, and will be using some flowers and different clips, but this will give a good idea of what the Bumpits can do.

Some before shots to show the regular flatness of my hair:

First, you take a chunk of hair at the crown of your head, pull it straight up in the air, and place the Bumpit on you head, laying the hair down over it. I used the smaller 3/4ths of an inch tall Bumpit for this demo.

I then swept back the hair on either side of my part, from just above my ears, covering the sides of the Bumpit, and secured it all with a small claw clip. Here are the results from a couple different angles.

(gettin' creative with using mirrors!)

I like the smaller Bumpit, since I don't think I could pull off the country western singer/pageant queen look of the taller one (nor would I want to!). I'll definitely be taking a Bumpit to my hair trial (which I'll share with you when it happens later this month!).

Have you ever seen a product featured in a cheesy infomercial that you HAD TO have? And what hair accessories will you be using for your wedding 'do?

  1. You have such awesome hair! I think mine is too fine for a bumpit, but they look great on you!

  3. So I think I've been living under a rock, because I have never heard of these. It really does look like it works though from your photos. I may have to invest in one and see if it would work with my hair.

  6. I want some! :) I have been wanting to buy some, I think I will next time I go to the store! They look great in your hair, sometimes I see people that don't know how to wear them.

  7. My daughter has them and all her friends love them! I personally don't think they'd work in my hair so I have never tried them but they are perfect for gals like you...looks great. You know what I actually bought for myself from a cheesy commercial that they now sell in Target? Strap Perfect. I say don't knock something, til you try it :)

  8. I bought some when I first saw them because I thought they were amazing and I haven't been able to successfully use them. I think it's probably because I accidentally got the "Hollywood" ones which are way too freaking tall!
If anyone else is thinking about getting them, don't order them and pay a ton of shipping, Walgreens has them now.
